In questo dipinto sulla storia biblica, l’eroina Jaele è rappresentata a mezzo busto con indosso un turbante persiano, mentre tiene un martello nella mano destra. Ella guarda verso il cielo con un’espressione piena di gratitudine ed inaspettata tranquillità. Di Sisara, la vittima supina, è raffigurata solo la testa con il fatale chiodo che sporge. Jaele uccide Sisara è stata attribuita a Mattia Preti; alcuni studiosi hanno sostenuto che quest’opera fosse stata realizzata da un artista molto familiare con lo stile del Preti. Per il momento l’attribuzione è a Gregorio Preti, anche se il chiaroscuro, la lisciatura delle superfici e l’attento lavoro di finitura, non sono incompatibili con lo stile dello stesso.

In this picture focused on the biblical story, the heroine Jael is wearing a Persian turban, and holding a hammer in his right hand. She looks toward the sky with an expression full of gratitude and unexpected calm. Sisara the victim is represented only with head by wich the fatal nail is protruding. Jael kills Sisara has been attributed to Mattia Preti,although some scholars would attribute this work to a familiar artist having the style of Preti. For the moment the assignment is to Gregory Preti, even if the features of this painting doesn’t represent at all his style.
